No one but I would be crazy enough to reproduce a book that is almost 400 pages in length and has over 800 numbered illustrations! It was well worth the effort, though because this book is one that should not be forgotten. The garments styles in this book are from the late 1920's to early 1930's and include many accessories, sweaters, afghans and infant's garments. 15 Pages. This edition of Weldons' contains a very nice assortment of crocheted laces with a variety of uses. There are corners, edgings, triangle insertions and even a lovely tea cosy made in fine an delicate filet patterns. There is also a insertion design with a swastika - this was long before this pattern gained another notorious purpose. This fine and delicate work recommended for someone who is more exerpienced at crochet. There will never be too many lovely patterns for fine crocheted laces!

15 Pages. Drawn Thread Work was quite a popular form of embroidery in the last century, and such beautiful designs were created with simply a plain piece of linen, a needle and thread. This book, the fifth on this topic in the Weldon's Practical Needlework series is culmination of two different techniques. There is basic instruction in the technique, as well as a summation of the stitches shown in the earlier books. There are useful instructions for decorative insertions and corners. There are also several pages of instruction on Needleweaving - very similar to drawn thread work, but the patterns are darned or woven over the remaining threads.

15 Pages. This rare edition of Weldon's contains patterns for tatted edgings and insertions for use in handkerchiefs and delicate finishes to lingerie and household linens. There are also instructions for Filet Net Work, a fancy technique rarely seen today, a net is made with shuttle and thread and a lovely design is stitched into the meshes of the net. There are many charts designs for creating the netted patterns of edgings & insertions.

Some of the designs are shown on the cover, such as the Dove and Chalice wide border and the Holy Cross edging with corner. Not shown on the cover is a lovely Passion Flower Lace panel for Alb, a Fleur de Lis border for trimming a Cotta and two crocheted girdles.
