31 Pages. A lovely edition of ethnic Italian needle work. In this edition there are stunning patterns for Italian Hemstitching. In addition to this there are also patterns for crocheted and knitted bedspreads and edgings. The mixture of Hemstitching and crochet is flawless in patterns such as table runners and luncheon sets. There are also a coupled of charted patterns for Ecclesiastical Designs. Truly a wealth of information here is large illustrations and extensive instructions to create them.

Carmela Testa & Company was a very small publisher within the Italian community of Boston, MA at the turn of the century. As far as I can tell, there were only 7 books in this series that were produced and they are extremely difficult to locate. The patterns alone are amazing glimpses into the ethic Italian community at the turn of the century. This book is loaded with techniques and pages of charted patterns. They are similar to the Priscilla books, which were also produced in Boston at this time.

8 Pages. This is a lovely special edition produced by Minerva in the mid-30's. There are 6 patterns in this book which include two dresses, a suit, a jacket, a beret and a blouse. The designs are every bit as lovely as the cover design, which is also included in this edtion.  Minerva released only a few of the "a" series editions during the mid 1930's, and they are often quite difficult to find. This edition has six patterns designed for "Fuzette" yarn, but with a bit of ingenuity I am quite sure a modern equivalent would make an easy replacement. They lovely patterns will never go out of fashion!

Many are knitted, but there are also toys such as the elephant and giraffe on the cover which are created by sewing pieces of felt or "American Cloth". Not sure what that is, but I think it may be vinyl. There are also lovely outfits for dolls, and the adorable knitted Mary and her Lamb.
