    221 Pages. The early Columbia series of books were amazing compilations of knitting and crochet patterns. This edition from the year of the Titanic has only a few patterns that appeared in other editions. During the time of WWI, many of the yarn companies produced instruction books that were more like catalogs.     200 Pages. A Beautiful large edition of the fabulous Columbia series of manuals. This edtion has a cover that is similar to the 1919 edtion, and a handful of patterns are the same - but they are very different books in overall content! In this book you will find knitting and crochet patterns for the home and all members of the family. There are several Mens items, items for young adults, children and infants. There is also a very large selection of sweaters and accessories for women and lovely afghans for the home. A great book for ideas, as are all of these larger manuals. They are huge resources of the styles and patterns from the era!  These large manuals are very special - the yarn companies only released one book of this size every year, and like the old shopping catalogs, they were filled with a wide variety of patterns.     48 Pages. For a book of less that 50 pages, this one has it all! There are small projects such as hats, gloves, scarves and socks. There are also lovely dresses, sweaters, and a fabulous crocheted beach set consisting of a bathing suit and cape. In addition to all of this there are also sweaters and vests for men, several items for children and some lovely afghans - including one of an Indian design. There was much change happening in the early 1920's, fashions were moving out of the staunch Edwardian and "Roaring" right into the '20's. The designs in this book speak volumes of these changes. There are a wide range of projects here suitable for any crocheting mood. There are bags, such as the Roman Stripe and also the Pantry bag, there are also a number of yokes and collars for Flapper era Lingerie. In addition to this there are edgings for table linens, lovely slippers, delicate infant's caps and doilies. There are mainly items of filet crochet and crocheted laces contained here, as this book is designed for Columbia Cotton Yarn. This is not a large collection, but certainly it is not lacking in wonderful crocheted projects. The beaded bags are worked in mainly crochet, and there are some of the best charted patterns you will see for this era. A pattern book with full instructions to make seven different beaded Flapper era bags. The patterns are fully graphed out and the materials used are widely obtainable today. People pay a premium for a bag such as this today - here's instructions on how to make your own masterpiece! They are all quite stunning and were very popular during the Prohibition era - as they are becoming today!
